Some shoots are just about getting the products on camera. And then there are shoots like this one — where everything clicks, the creative vision takes over, and you end up with images that feel like art.

Our Smoke & Mirrors shoot with the incredibly talented @aishadiandra.creative in Melbourne was exactly that. Neon lights, smoke, mirrors — and RARR pieces doing what they were made to do: looking completely stunning on real bodies in motion.

The concept

We wanted to play with the idea of reflection — how the same garment looks different from every angle, how light changes everything, how a body in movement tells a completely different story than a body standing still.

The neon lighting cast the most gorgeous colour across everything. The smoke added that dreamy, otherworldly softness. And the mirrors meant every shot had this unexpected depth — you'd see the front of a piece and the back at the same time, the model's expression and the curve of a shoulder simultaneously.

It was one of those shoots where you keep stopping to look at the back of the camera and just going oh wow.

What we shot

The stars of this shoot were our bodysuits — and honestly, they were made for this kind of light. The way neon hits a bodysuit is something else. Every seam, every strap, every cut catches the light differently. Under smoke and mirrors, they looked like they belonged on a stage.

We also featured pieces from across our pole wear collection — because that's always the point with RARR. These aren't pieces that only work in a studio or only work at a festival or only work in a photoshoot. They work everywhere, because they're built to move and built to last.

A note from Rachel

I always say the best shoots are the ones where the clothes stop being clothes and start being part of something bigger. This was one of those shoots. Aisha brought the most incredible creative energy to the day, and watching our pieces transform under that light and smoke — it reminded me exactly why I started designing in the first place.

When something you made with your hands ends up looking like that? It never gets old.
